A creative space that showcases the work and creative projects of two sisters based in two very different parts of Canada. Originally born to house our joint project- I Love You More Than The North is Vast- Paper and Pistil has recently blossomed into a shared space to house all our creative endeavours.

From the award-winning designer of Secret Path comes a story about the depths of our love told through a northern lens.

Isis and her sister Rhiannon have come together to create a children’s book that brings the reader on a playful journey through the North. While venturing through forests, up hills, and around rivers, children discover native Canadian flora and fauna and encounter warm and loving characters. Come join us on this whimsical adventure!

Our Story

The name "Paper & Pistil" was crafted to encapsulate the very essence of creative women.

  • "Paper" represents the medium through which countless stories, ideas, and dreams are expressed. It symbolizes the strength and versatility of creativity, taking shape through the strokes of pens, brushes, and the unfolding of paper's limitless possibilities.

  • “Pistil”, the female part within flowers, represents giving birth to new life/ ideas and nurturing growth. Paper & Pistil recognizes the vital role women play in nurturing their ideas and being the driving force behind their creative endeavors. It is in the marriage of these two elements—paper and pistil-that the name Paper & Pistil exudes a sense of empowerment and celebrates the boundless creativity of women, inspiring them to blossom into their fullest potential.
